Proyecto de intervención urbana: Vocho

El proyecto consiste en una intervención urbana que efectúa un recorrido que parte del Centro Histórico al mercado de La Merced con un Vocho que se mueve solamente con la voluntad y el impulso humanos; se trata de una metáfora, en la que el Vocho, con lo representativo que es para la ciudad de México y los habitantes de ella, se mueve a partir del impulso humano, dicho impulso quiere proponer que los transeúntes del recorrido son el auténtico motor que mueve la ciudad. El recorrido partió del Zócalo hacia el mercado de la Merced que es el lugar donde los individuos usan su cuerpo de manera cotidiana como herramienta para trabajar. El proyecto surgió de la experiencia en común entre Yuvia y yo, respecto a los recuerdos de las experiencias al haber tenido un Vocho que, seguido se descomponía y para arrancarlo había que pedir ayuda a las personas.

This project is an urban intervention that consists of a ride from Mexico City’s downtown to La Merced market in a VW Beatle (Vocho) that is only moved by human will and momentum; It is a metaphor in which this car that is characteristic of Mexico City and its inhabitants moves only by the human impulse. The purpose of this is to show the idea that the people that helps moving the Vocho during the tour represents the real engine that moves the city. The Vocho ride goes from Zocalo to La Merced market; this last one is the place where people use their bodies as a tool to work on a daily basis. The project was an idea that came from our experience of having had a Beatle (Vocho) that used to break down regularly and we often needed to ask for peoples help to be able to start the car and make it work again.
